BCLP / RJSP Writing Prize: "Competition Law and CSR: A Comparative Euro-American Analysis"

The Revue des Juristes de Sciences Po (RJSP) is pleased to launch the second edition of its prize in collaboration with the law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP)! We invite students from the Sciences Po Law School to explore the topic of the relationship between competition law and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), in light of current developments in the United States and Europe.

Since Donald Trump's second term, a transatlantic divide appears to be emerging in the areas of CSR and competition law: while U.S. authorities are adopting an increasingly hostile stance toward collective ESG initiatives, viewing them as antitrust risks, the European Union is instead seeking to integrate sustainability objectives into its competition policy. This legal writing competition invites you to analyze this divergence in approaches, explore the tensions between competitive neutrality and climate imperatives, assess the risks of legal uncertainty for companies engaged in the sustainable transition, and envision future regulatory frameworks that could reconcile economic performance, preservation of competition, and social and environmental responsibilities in a polarized geopolitical context.

Dive into this timely reflection and try your chance to win the first prize of €1,000 or the second prize of €500! The best article will be published in issue 29 of the Revue des Juristes de Sciences Po, themed "Competition Law at a Crossroads." Articles will be evaluated anonymously by a jury composed of lawyers as well as members of the RJSP's Scientific and Editorial Committees. A prize ceremony will be held in February 2026 in the presence of the two winners and jury members.
